I have a point to make.
The Drowning Gull claims in their mission that we are a literary magazine dedicated to publishing what other literary magazines won’t. I felt it was necessary to say that this is a judgement based on aesthetic rather than quality.
We publish the weird and wonderful, but not work overflowing with spelling mistakes or grammar issues. And we want to receive everyone’s best work– not their second best because they think that is what our submission supposedly claims. It’s something that occurred to me while I was staring at the site’s “About” page.
By the way, thank you to all those people wonderful people who have sent along submissions! If you haven’t heard from us already, you should hear back very soon.
